About Bob Smith
Bob and Mary Jo Smith know the Venice area very well and have enjoyed it for over 40 years. In the 1980’s they first vacationed here and delighted in picking up sharks teeth on Venice Beach with their children. Now they are searching for shark’s teeth with their grandchildren.

Bob Smith is a former Congressman and United States Senator from New Hampshire, where he served for 18 years. Senator Smith was the lead sponsor of the bill in the US Senate to restore the Everglades and later served as President of the Everglades Foundation, a non-profit organization, whose mission is to monitor the restoration of this environmental treasure.
Mary Jo and Bob retired to Sarasota after leaving the US Senate in 2003 and have been licensed Florida real estate agents for the past 16 years. In addition to working for the Everglades Foundation the Smiths were sales associates for Coldwell Banker, on both Longboat Key and St. Armand’s Circle. They have been dividing time between their home on
Lake Winnipesaukee in NH and vacationing in the Venice area for the past few years. They have recently purchased a home in Venice.
Senator Smith was a Founding Director of First America Bank (now Center State) in Osprey which also has offices in Sarasota, Ellenton and Bradenton. Mary Jo and Bob Smith have numerous business contacts and friends in Venice and their national relationships as a former US Senator are a huge asset for bringing new people to our
